Scan Converter (Lyon Lamb)

LYONLAMB

Usage

The Lyon Lamb scan converter turns computer monitor output into standard video in real time. Thus it converts from something in the high-bandwidth RGBS monitor patch panel into many levels of the Telect - NTSC, CAV, and RGBS. You generally use it for recording from a live monitor session to tape. See tutorial

Connection

The Lyon Lamb is the general way to get live video onto tape. There's also a special-purpose way for a specific machine: moviola has a built-in scan converter.

Troubleshooting

Q: Why do my colors look weird on the Lyon Lamb?

A:There are small switches underneath the RGB inputs on the back of the Lyon Lamb. These should all be set to the "75 Ohm" position. Setting them to "off" "terminates" the signal, which has the side effect of amplifying the signal. If your colors look weird, one or more of these switches probably has been accidentally moved to the "off" position.
